Welcome to my website!
I am Fred Emil Katz, author of Our Quest For Effective Living: How We Cope In Social Space/ A Window To A New Science.

Summary of the book's  four themes:

(1)  How we manage the Unmentionables in our lives  -- the nasty things in and around us that we cannot talk about in public.  I call it the Second Path phenomenon.  It can attain a life of its own.

(2)  Morality tells us what our lives are all about -- who we are, what  we are, our identity.  Yet morality can also justify the most horrendous behavior -- such as slavery and genocide.  I call it the  Closed Moral Worlds phenomenon.

(3)  Sometimes we realize that we are part of something larger than ourselves, that there  is an Ultimate reality to which, somehow, we have access. At times that Ultimate reality can become terribly real, dominating how we see the here and now.  I call this transcendence the Access-to-the-Ultimate phenomenon.

(4)  We humans are connected to one another.   This happens not only when we do networking or  are directly interacting with people.  It happens in virtually every one of our daily activities.  I call it the Link phenomenon.  The "meaning" of anything we do is its link to other sectors of our life.   The book explores this in relation to human sexuality, to our eating habits, and the love of opera, to mention just a few.
